I'll Find a Way

Music: Rachel Yamagata

Vidder Notes

When it first came out, Rachel Yamagata's CD, Happenstance, was one I frequently played. I bought the CD for Worn Me Down, but soon fell in love with I'll Find a Way. The song is about a woman yearning to continue a relationship that, judging by the lyrics, is in some way doomed. While I'm a huge fan of Trip, I have issues with T'Pol. I believe the audience was supposed to feel sympathetic towards this woman, who is drawn to a man who in many ways is all wrong for her. But I felt that, after seducing him, T'Pol toyed with Trip in a way a true friend would not. Then there's the question of what exactly happened between the episodes of Terra Prime and These Are the Voyages. The former ends with Trip and T'Pol clinging to each other, mourning the death of their daughter. The latter tells us their relationship broke up soon after and that while they obviously still had feelings for each other, they never again acted on them. With that in mind, how might T'Pol have reacted to Trip's death? That's what this vid is about.

I'll Find a Way

I'll find a way
to see you again
I'll find a way
to see you again

I used to think that anything I'd do
wouldn't matter at all anyway
But now I find that when it comes to you
I'm the winner of cards I can't play

Wait for me
wait for me
Darling
I need you desperately
desperately here

And I'll find a way
to see you again
I'll find a way
to see you again

The rain is like an orchestra to me
Little gifts from above meant to say
Girl, you're falling at his feet
Isn't lovely or stunning today

Lay with me
lay with me
I'm alive when you're here with me
here with me
stay

And I'll find a way
to see you again
Yes I'll find a way
to see you again

Why do the street lamps die
When you're passing by
Like a hand that won't stay on my shoulder tonight?
If you held me close, would you laugh it away?
Would you dare the glance that I steal to stay?

And I'll find a way
to see you again
Yes I'll find a way
to see you again

I'll find a way
to see you again... (x4)

The rain'll bring (echo)
me down.
