Take It to the Limit

Music: The Eagles

Vidder Notes

This song seemed appropriate for a couple of different reasons. First off, I like using music from the period for older, classic shows. That's not to say that I wouldn't vid S&H or Pros to something more contemporary. I totally would (and have). But a lot of times, my mind makes associations between music of a certain period and the television or film of that same era.

I should probably also confess--I'm a Hutch girl. And ironically, given this vid, the character breaks my heart in season four. He has changed so much over the run of the series, and certainly not all for the good. For me, his longer hair and mustache ages him physically. He's more cynical, his sense of humor is darker, and overall, you just get the sense that his life wears on him. Yet despite all that, Hutch is in there swinging. He never gives up, no matter what the cost. That's what this vid is about. Hats off please to PR Zed for her usual exquisite beta.

Take It to the Limit

All alone at the end of the evening
When the bright lights have faded to blue.
I was thinking of a woman who loved me
But I never knew

You know I've always been a dreamer
Spent my life running 'round
And it's so hard to change
Can't seem to settle down
But the dreams I've seen lately
Keep on turning out
And burning out
And turning out the same

So put me on a highway
And show me a sign
And take it to the limit one more time

You can spend all your time making money
You can spend all your love making time
If it all falls to pieces tomorrow, will you still be mine?

And when you're looking for your freedom
Nobody seems to care
And you can't find the door
Can't find it anywhere
And there's nothing to believe in

Still you're coming back
You're running back
You're coming back for more

So put me on a highway
And show me a sign
And take it to the limit one more time

Take it to the limit
Take it to the limit
Take it to the limit one more time
